Welcome Back 

Welcome back for the beginning of Term 2.

We've enjoyed talking, writing and drawing about the holidays today.

Some of us even made fun scenes using our Play-doh.

Perfect Attendance

Congratulations to all of these Grade 3 and 4 students who celebrated 100% attendance in Term 1!

They should be so proud of themselves!

 Next term we hope to see the size of this group increase.  We always encourage all students to attend school every day.

Congratulations to all of the students across all four of our grades who participated in the Walkathon, the Cross Country, BluEarth activities, the Baseball and Netball clinics in Term 1. Have a look at our website for more photos.

Next term we look forward to more energetic activities including welcoming visiting BluEarth coaches, Athletics and a Serendip outing.  Stay tuned for more information.

 Exceptional Brag Tag Boasters

Congratulations to these students from 3/4T who accumulated  an  exceptional number of Brag Tags in Term 1.  This is an initiative that 3/4T are trialing and Mrs Jackson was delighted to share their successes!

Cross Country

Cross Country

On Thursday the 26^th of March our students participated in the whole school Cross Country. It was great to see our grade 3/4 students participating and having a go. The winning house on the day was Bass!

Serendip Sanctuary

Serendip Sanctuary

We were very lucky that the 3/4 grades were the first classes to visit Serendip Sanctuary this year. We had some great weather and we even got to take a bus to and from the Sanctuary which saved some of our energy. Over the week we worked on learning about the environment and the animals that live at Serendip. The students walked along Hovells Creek and collected litter and recorded the types of litter they found. The total numbers were astonishing. The students were shocked to find out how much rubbish was collected altogether.

The students worked on the netbooks and used Microsoft Excel to create some graphs. The students made great recommendations for the people of Lara in regards to rubbish. An example from 3/4B is below.

“We’d like the people of Lara to look after our town and the environment.  We don’t want them to just throw their rubbish out because they should reuse, reduce and recycle.” By Dylan

We had a deeper look at what is really in compost and why it is good for our plants,

We were lucky to have Hazel visit and bring in her lizards to show everyone.

The students also used the Ipads to look at the Ecolink app and name some of the ‘free range’ animals spotted at Serendip. These animals are not in cages and are free to come and go as they please.

The students also learnt about Imovie on the Ipads and were able to add music, transitions and headings.
